Golden Gooses on Silver LakeEnjoying a Golden Day on Silver Lake October 19, 2015

It is that time of year again! First a Federal Election and then PDWPA’s AGM. Another election opportunity for Port Dover Residents!

Past and present members:

Please be advised that our sixth Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Port Dover Lighthouse Festival Theatre, upstairs Lounge. The meeting will include a financial report and a year-end review, including reports on the status of the Port Dover Lighthouse, Marina Governance, repair of Misner Dam and the restoration of Silver Lake. Back in 2009 your PDWPA came into being to advocate against the possibility of the Marina being sold off to private interests. In 2010 the Friends of Silver Lake were taken in as a committee within PDWPA. As by the 19th, County Council should have deliberated on both Marina Governance and Misner Dam, it should be a news-filled meeting. It may well transpire that we finally have significant progress to report on these two major issues.

Any motions that have been submitted for the AGM will addressed and voted on.

At the present time, there are five members on the Board of Directors who are to be elected every two years at the AGM. All directors must be residents or property owners in Port Dover. As stated in our By-Law, one of these directors shall be an officer of the Port Dover Harbour Authority; two of the directors shall be members of the Port Dover Harbour Marina and/or the Port Dover Yacht Club; one director shall be a member of the Friends of Silver Lake Committee; and the fifth director shall be any member of the Association.

The Association’’s By-Law also states that three directors are required to retire each year, but may seek reelection. Should a person wish to put forward a name as candidate for director, please notify me by Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Should a person be interested for consideration, not presently but in the future, please contact any of the directors.

If you have any motions that you would like the membership to consider, please submit them to the undersigned by Wednesday, November 11, 2015. The mover and seconder must be stipulated.

If you haven’t already done so, you may renew your membership at the Pt. Dover Lighthouse Festival Theatre just before the AGM. If this is not convenient, a cheque in the amount of $20.00, payable to the PDWPA, may be mailed to:
Paul Lipsit
3 West Dale
Port Dover, ON

Please note that the final membership renewal date for the upcoming year 2016 is April 30, 2016.

As well, please mark in your calendars November 29, a Sunday, for our fourth Family Christmas By The Lake, a stand-out favourite event for all who attend (additional information to be forthcoming shortly ).

Your support and continued involvement in the Port Dover Waterfront Preservation Association is very much appreciated. Now, more than ever with these important matters coming to Council in the coming month, we need your support and involvement.
